Save the date for September 15 and 16, and plan to get yourself to Seneca College in Toronto. We are bringing together the best and the brightest minds on the Mozilla platform to talk about everything from making an extension to testing low-level API’s for your next XUL application. We have a proposed schedule where we are finalizing the last details.
My slice of this is the hands-on testing workshops. These will be workshops on automated testing, just in time for you to jump in and get involved in the Firefox 3.1 effort. We will be covering three very wide areas of automated test development:
- User interface automation testing
- Back end API testing and web page interactivity testing
- Specialized testing (like memory leak, crash, and performance testing)
Whether you are working on extensions, web content, or the Mozilla Platform itself, the best code is the best tested code. However, it is not always clear when to use what technology in the Mozilla Platform for your testing and automation. These sessions will answer those questions and will demonstrate how best to write tests for each of these wildly different areas.
Bring yourself, and a desire to jump in and start hacking. We’ll do the rest.
